Provide a way to change passwords for site admin schema or shared space schemas from within the application.
Why is this important, when it would it be used?
Some organizations have guidelines that require application / database admins to regularly change the passwords of database schema users.
Benefits / Value
At the moment, the only way to set the new database passwords, includes multiple manual steps inside configuration files and on the database itself. It wasn't possible for us to perform these changes without the help of R&D.
A build in solution would reduce the effort that is needed to perform a change like that and it would be easier to integrate ALM Octane in complex company IT environments.
The solution should be integrated within the Site Admin Module of ALM Octane, within a seperate Database pane. It should be possible to use different passwords for Site Admin and Shared Space schemas.
You should be able to provide database admin users and system users to perform steps like the password change, restart of servers, directly via the application itself.
There should be some kind of customization, to fit different envrionments. For example: Sometimes its needed to provide the old password when changing it and sometimes not. It depends on which functions are enabled by the Oracle administration.
