Upgrading to AM 9.70

Over the years I have done quite a few AM upgrades, but am only just starting to play with AM 9.70 now.  Anyone out there upgraded yet and want to share their experiences?  Cheers... Russ

Re: Upgrading to AM 9.70

Hi Russel,

Hope all is well.

We are in the midst of upgrading our environment to AM 9.7 / CIT 9.8 alongside a uCMDB / UD upgrade.

We have come to a halt due to issues with Microsoft Server 2016. Specifically, it is the first MS Server OS to disable SSL in favor of TLS by default. This causes an issue because by default both Asset Manager and uCMDB look to use the system default ODBC Driver SQL Server (sqlsrv32.dll) which supports only SSL 3.0 not TLS.

I have been able to sort of band-aid fix the issue in our dev environment by modifying the registry to "trick" Asset Manager into using a DSN with the newer ODBC driver (version 13 downloaded from Microsoft). But we are waiting on an official fix from Micro Focus (over a month now) before moving on to our production environment. It is worth noting that the same issue exists with the AM Generic Adapter in uCMDB because it also looks to use the same default ODBC SQL Server driver.

You can find supporting Microsoft documentation here.

Re: Upgrading to AM 9.70

Thank you Jonathan.  This is exactlly the kind of thing I was hoping to hear about.  The client I am working with uses MSSQL Server so we would certainlly run into this.  Do you have a bug number for this issue?

Jonathan - Do you have a Bug Number from MicroFocus?  I would like to get myself added to the "Watch List" for it.

Thanks again...  Russ
