How to use dropzone

We're using HPE CM 9.1.2.1108.  We're looking at the dropzone feature, but it's not obvious to us whether we should be able to drop and drop a file onto it to create a new record.  The internal documentation suggests that it can invoke the new record form, but mostly it describes using the dropzone to check in records.  Can we only drag and drop files onto records that are currently listed in the dropzone (based on what has been configured for it to display, ie. favorite/recent records)?

Re: How to use dropzone

If you enable dropzone but enable no views, you'll see you can't check-in a document...

However, if you enable a view you can drop onto the items exposed.  If you drop onto an exposed container, you typically can check-in as a new record within that container.  Same for classifications.

However, if you drop onto an existing electronic document you'll be prompted to check-in a new revision.

Thanks, I figured it would turn out to be that way.
