How to Backup using fiber instead of Network?

Hello everyone.

I want to backup a LUN assigned to a server using the fiber connection instead of the network.
My topology it's as follows.

Target Server have an assigned LUN on the SAN (VNX 5400).
Target Server it's connected to the Fabric Switch.
There's a zone created between the target server and the SAN.

Backup Server it's connected to the fabric switch.
Target Library it's connected to the fabric switch.
There's a zone created between Backup Server and Target Library.

So I have some questions:
1. Which client need to be installed on the Target Server
EMC VNX?

2. Do I need to create a Zone between the Backup Server and The Target Server?
3. Do I need to create a Zone between the Library and the Target Server?

Thank you for your time

A server with direct tape access requires the Media Agent component.

2. Do I need to create a Zone between the Backup Server and The Target Server?

No, this is not required.

3. Do I need to create a Zone between the Library and the Target Server?

Yes, just create a zone between the Target Server and the Tape Library or just a single drive.

The Tape Drive must be configured as a Multi-Path device. This means you will need a SAN drive license. You can check the omnicc output after configuration.

That media agent, are you talking about the General Media Agent or the NDMP Media Agent?

The General Media Agent is just fine for most environments. The NDMP Media Agent will also work, but is only neccesaary if the same Media Agent should also coordinate NDMP backups. If you're not doing NDMP backups, use the General Media Agent.
