Re: [Major] From: VEPALIB_VMWARE@xxx.com [172:157] Virtual Machine 'xxx: Could not create snapshot

Hi Syedfurquan,

There are VMware limitations that will not allow to take a snapshot so it won't be possible to perform an image Backup, these are the VMware limitations:

https://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vsphere.vm_admin.doc_50%2FGUID-53F65726-A23B-4CF0-A7D5-48E584B88613.html

Also, please refer to:

No snapshots in physical compatibility mode – If you are using an RDM in physical compatibility mode, you cannot use a snapshot with the disk. Physical compatibility mode allows the virtual machine to manage its own snapshot or mirroring operations.
Snapshots are available in virtual mode.

Hi,

debugs show:

[199] 2016-04-21 09:31:43.509 ("/integ/vep/vepa/Plugins/Vmware/VmwareHelpers/AppUtil.cpp $Rev: 45068 $ $Date:: 2014-10-21 08:37:36":252)
[199] <<=== (6) } /* AppUtil::WaitForValues */
[199]
[ 20] [AppUtil::WaitForTask] Didn't receive 'success'. Received: Virtual machine is configured to use a device that prevents the snapshot operation: Device '' is a SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing.
[110] [AppUtil::WaitForTask] Returning:
Type='enum VITaskResult';
value='1'

Can you create snapshot in vSphere directly ?

Re: [Major] From: VEPALIB_VMWARE@xxx.com [172:157] Virtual Machine 'xxx: Could not create snapshot

Hi,

It's a VM with RDM disks so no snapshot options available.

It means no image backup possible for these VM's?
