The latest release of the Micro Focus Data Center Automation (DCA) is now available! Data Center Automation version 2017.11 features new risk dashboards, Puppet visibility, container server farm provisioning, and enhancements to the ChatOps collaboration tool.

These enhancements offer users with additional visibility and the opportunity to better understand how to make the most of resources.

Data Center Automation automates IT processes for provisioning, patching and compliance across multi-vendor physical and virtual servers, databases, middleware and container server farms at enterprise-ready scale.

DCA 2017.11 introduces a single-view risk dashboard, which complements the existing compliance dashboard. The new dashboard shows current state and the trends of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) in the data center. It monitors across operating systems, databases, and middleware layers. This enables Central IT to proactively identify and address top issues and potentially prevent breaches. DCA Central IT Dashboard.png

 Puppet Visibility and Management

With the 2017.11 release, DCA now performs out-of-the-box compliance audits and closed-loop remediation of Puppet managed servers. This enables DCA to serve as the authoritative solution managing IT infrastructure compliance. Now as you know, any line of business can continue utilizing Puppet open source technology while Central IT ensures that corporate and regulatory standards are met across the entire infrastructure.

DCA provides the following added value for Puppet managed infrastructure:

  • Discover and import Puppet resources
  • Out-of-the-box regulatory compliance benchmarks to perform policy-based compliance audit and remediation for FISMA, HIPPA, SOX, PCI, and more
  • Ensure SLOs are met by scheduling audit and/or remediation tasks within defined maintenance schedules
  • Compliance dashboards provide an overall view of compliance status

DCA extends its automaton capabilities by adding container server farm provisioning.  With the 2017.11 DCA release, central IT can easily deploy Docker-based Kubernetes clusters.  This decreases the amount of time needed to provision container infrastructure with pre-configured templates. The fully-orchestrated process removes the complexity of having to self-provision the container server farm infrastructure. Once the infrastructure is in place, you’re ready to deploy containerized apps.

DCA standardizes, orchestrates, and manages customized deployments of Docker-based Kubernetes clusters across the data center. This accelerates adoption of Docker containers.

ChatOps enhancements

The ChatOps functionality has been upgraded to include both compliance audit and remediation commands from the Slack channel. New HuBot enterprise technology enables roll-based access control (RBAC) user authentication.  Required permissions are verified through the slack channel to ensure that the slack user has the required permissions to execute the command requested. Now users can easily invite other team members to participate in the diagnosis and remediation of compliance issues in a conversation-like manner—to solve issues faster. ChatOps enhancements allow users to obtain resource group compliance status and information, watch resources for a change in compliance status, and remediate non-compliance issues from the slack channel.
