IT4IT™ Detect to Correct (D2C) Reference Implementation project's last phased released

The IT4IT Detect to Correct (D2C) Value Stream provides a framework for the integration of the Service Monitoring, Event, Incident, Problem, Change Control, Configuration Management, and remediation tasks in IT Operations. It also provides a comprehensive overview of the business of IT Operations and the services delivered by IT Operations. This viewpoint provides understanding of the interrelationships among its many domains; including Event, Incident, Problem, Change Control, and Configuration Management, and responsiveness to business requests and requirements. The D2C Value Stream is designed to incorporate a wide variety of sourcing methodologies across services, technologies, and processes. This value stream accommodates the technical interrelationships and interdependencies required to fix operational issues and improve the ability of IT to support business objectives by providing agility, increased up-time, and lower per-service cost.

The HPE IT4IT™ team has just released a new version of the Detect to Correct (D2C) Reference Implementation (“RI”) and it is now available for consumption. This new release constitutes the 3rd and last phase of the D2C RI project.

In the first and second phases of the D2C RI Project, we focused on:

  1. Implementing the Detect to Correct main use case with the latest product versions–starting with Event detection (variety of OMi Event feeders); correlation with other Events (OMi); automatic Remediation attempt (OMi-OO); escalation as Incident in Service Manager (OMi-SM), out of which either Change or Problem is created, that is handled as a product Defect (SM-ALM)
  2. Analyzing the impact of BSM-OMi split on main D2C use case, which resulted in many defects, most of them were fixed.
  3. Execute Downtime Management use cases using UCMDB, BSM, OMI and SM
  4. Focus on range of monitoring products that feed OMi with Events by using Sitescope, BPM, Diagnostics, OM database SPI, NNMi, RUM and Cloud Optimizer (VPV)
  5. Connecting the Request to Fulfill Value Stream to Detect to Correct, using CSA to deploy the service monitoring definition as part of service provision.

In this 3rd phase we implemented the following use cases: 

  1. Exchange Incidents between Service Anywhere and Service Manager using the point-to-point integration.
  2. Unstructured monitoring in which Ops Analytics pushed Events to OMi.
  3. Advanced storage monitoring using Storage Operations Manager (SOM).

APM Version 9.26, OMi Version 10.10, OMW Version 9.0 (including Weblogic SPI and MSSQL SPI), BPM Version 9.26, RUM Version 9.26, NNMi Version 10.10, SM Version 9.41, Service Anywhere (on SaaS), OO Version 10.51, UCMDB Version 10.22, CSA Version 4.5, CODAR Version 1.5, RC Version 9.20, ALM Version 12.20, SOM Version 10.10 and Operations Analytics Version 2.31.

Very good to see that the IT4IT documents have been updated, recently.

The mapping picture/diagram is very useful - thank you!

But with all the new releases it would be nice to have these current release be included, like:
ALM 12.53, APM 9.30, CODAR 1.70, CSA 4.70, NNMi 10.20, OMi 10.12, OO 10.60, OpsAn 2.32, RC 9.50, SM 9.50, SOM 10.20, UCMDB 10.30.
And vPV (virtual Performance Viewer) is now called CO (Cloud Optimizer), and is available in version 3.01.

It is very strange that in IT4IT is not place for Asset Management. But Asset Management is foundation for all rest IT. In the fact, many activities that are alligned to Configuration Management are about Asset Management.

I have a better understanding of what Dectect to correct now means in relation to application relationship configuration, and she how it can be implemented.

The reference implementations are so valuable.  They prove IT4IT can be delivered and help to simplify what could potentially be a very complex challange.   Well done !
