IT4IT™ Strategy to Portfolio (S2P) Reference Implementation is available from the HPE IT4IT™ team

The HPE Reference Implementation team for IT4IT has published the first phase of its “Strategy to Portfolio” project thus completing all four value streams and offering a complete end-to-end view on how the HPE portfolio can be used to implement the IT4IT Reference Architecture.  S2P.png

For the first phase of the S2P implementation project, the use case “modify an existing IT service triggered by a change in business strategy” was chosen and implemented using existing products and integrations:

  • An IT policy and a supporting business objective were defined.
  • A proposal to modify an existing service was created to achieve the business objective.
  • This proposal, along with other items of the demand backlog were evaluated and prioritized.
  • The service architecture was modeled in it’s as-is and to-be state and the service’s architectural gaps were identified, estimated, and a work package of deliverables was created.
  • Products used in this scenario are PPM 9.31, EM 2.00, UCMDB 10.20, and Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect 11 (3rd party)

As with past Reference Implementation projects, close collaboration with the product teams resulted in a new S2P Reference Implementation Guide for the field and customers   For additional details, see the Strategy to Portfolio Value stream RA page or the Strategy to Portfolio RI page on our Solution Portal. For any questions on the HPE Reference Implementation projects please contact IT4IT@hpe.com

Which existing IT service have been modified? The idea is great, but some details would really make it more alive, not some abstract thing.

As Andriy mentions, it doesn't talk about which IT service. They aren't necessarily generic.

Good to see an implementation approach to the S2P framework.

Hoping to see some case studies and next level of details on actual implementations using HP suite for S2P.

Re: IT4IT™ Strategy to Portfolio (S2P) Reference Implementation is available from the HPE IT4IT™ tea

Great to see interest in the S2P Reference Implementation!

The IT4IT Reference Architecture is multi-level, with the greatest detail at level 5.  To apply IT4IT and use the RA (or RI) for a specific service, descend in detail level and you can follow the S2P RI Configuration Guide.  The guide provides an example application and takes you through changing and extending a service.   S2P's output is a Conceptual Service Blueprint and a Conceptual Service Road map, as input to R2D.

Would any of the posters requesting more detail or a specific example care to share their use cases/situation/scenarios?  We would love to spawn a discussion where we can capture real-world application of IT4IT.

Thanks
JR

I know that it can be very difficult when trying to implement your strategy into your companies portfolio without it being too much of an hassel.  I would love to see a demonstration on how flawlessly the S2P is.

Re: IT4IT™ Strategy to Portfolio (S2P) Reference Implementation is available from the HPE IT4IT™ tea

Hi,

even though this question is close to those I posted onto your other IT4IT articles:
Are there some updates available about how much would change if using the newer releases, especially EM3.2 and UCMDB 10.3?

And I would be very interested to attend to that webinar, of course!

Thanks a lot,

Wodisch

Re: IT4IT™ Strategy to Portfolio (S2P) Reference Implementation is available from the HPE IT4IT™ tea

There are no current updates above what was already published. The team that works on this project doesn't exist anymore unfortunately, so there are no updates planned for this RI activity.

As far as I know these new versions could be used in the same way as described in the current version. if things do not work please contact the respective product R&D/Support teams.

We do not plan any webinar currently.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ohad.

Re: IT4IT™ Strategy to Portfolio (S2P) Reference Implementation is available from the HPE IT4IT™ tea

The concept is great but for most small services the effort seems to be to high. So first you have to decide for which kind of services this process should take place.
