How can HP ALM be configured to prevent a tester from having multiple runs

Currently, HP ALM is allowing a tester to execute a test more than once for the same test instance.  How can this be prevented so that for each test case executed there is only one test run.

Re: How can HP ALM be configured to prevent a tester from having multiple runs

Hi,

Hope you can achieve this using Workflow customization.

When the user clicks on run button, check if the same test instance has any existing runs and if so,  cancel the action based on the status as per your requirement.

Otherwise, you can create a field for test instance which will get populated to Y when any run is created and with this  as condition, the new run can be stopped.

But , don't you get any requirement to re-run the test instance when the run is failed?

Hi, yes. When a test fails. Users will need to re-Run the test from the start as appose to contimuing. So they will need to be able to create a second Run but only if the previous Run has failed.

Another option would be to have a message pop up explaing this to a user who is creating a second Run.

do you have a workfow code you can share on this?

thanks
