Application security is top of mind these days. For example, The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that 90% of security incidents result from exploits against defects in software. The Verizon 2017 Data Breach Investigation Report showed that application layer breaches are currently happening twice as often as all other types of attacks.

CBTS partners with Micro Focus.jpgMany software developers lack expertise on application security and don’t understand the potential risks to their organizations when software code is released without proper security testing. That’s why we are excited to share the news that CBTS (Cincinnati Bell), an IT and communications solutions provider, has partnered with Micro Focus to help organizations secure their applications.

The CBTS solution integrates Micro Focus Fortify Application Security technology to help identify security vulnerabilities in source code early in software development. This announcement further cements our strategy to “move application security to the left” and help developers prevent or fix security vulnerabilities in their source code when they are writing it.

“It is important to ensure every application that runs a business is secured and protected. This includes outsourced software, commercial off-the-shelf software, and open source code that is incorporated into our customers’ applications. If not properly tested, it can increase the risk to our clients’ businesses,” said Steve Lankard, Vice President and Principal, Infrastructure Solutions for CBTS.

“Security is of paramount importance to our clients and their customers, which is why we’re excited to offer an industry leading solution with Micro Focus that helps improve application security quickly and easily.”

The joint solution also provides a comprehensive dynamic analysis of complex web applications and services in real time, while providing valuable insight from a centralized management console and repository. CBTS will offer the solution in either an onsite or as-a-service model, and provide the necessary resources to train the client’s IT staff along with flexible implementation service offerings.

“We are pleased that CBTS has invested in our Fortify technology to add significant value to our mutual customers across North America. CBTS brings a wealth of expertise to the Application Security space and has a proven track record of working with many organizations to help them solve some of their most complex IT challenges,” said Phil Rayment, VP Channels at Micro Focus.

Developers are the first line of defense against cybersecurity attacks for their organization. With web apps still leading the list of attack vectors, a rigorous approach to application security, such as the new joint solution with CBTS, means you can have complete confidence and peace of mind in identifying, fixing, and preventing security vulnerabilities in your applications.
