Inherit attributes from parent CI

A parent CI set some attributes, which should be inherited by the child CI’s. It should be possible to check if the child is compliant with the values set by the parent.

This seems to be something for a configuration item definition but the number of custom fields for this item type is very limited and how can we add these new fields to the definition check?

We can neither use a template because there are too much of such parent items and they change quite often.

I can think of several other possibilities (rules, web-api, objectloader etc…) but just wanted to know if anyone has some experience with this and what the best approach is.

Maybe interesting to mention is that it’s for Service Desk 5.1 P3.

Thanks in advance

Best regards
