problem with auto creation of CI

Hi all,
I am having one problem with auto creation of CI's with excel sheet, it is putting a ".0"
(dot zero) with a value that is numeric,
for example name if we put 7777777 in the excel sheet,
in the created CI it will become 7777777.0
please help.

Hello,

This is a known problem with the excel odbc driver. Either modify the xls adding ' to the columns (thus comverting it to text) or use STR([COLUMN]) in the ini file.

Yes, that is true. I was also thinking the same reason behind it.Excel sheet checks whether the value is numeric and its length in digits. Say if the value is more than 65536 it consider it as a Float value and converts it to FLoat by adding a decimal to it. In XML also you check it clearly shows the type to be Number,so to avoid this we should format the cells in the excel by selecting Text type for any numeric field.
Also, the right or left alignment of values
based on their type clearly shows it(Right for Numeric and Left for Text type values in excel sheet.)
