ESS Portal > View Open Requests sort issue

Hi Experts,

We have SM 9.51 PD installed on windows server.

Observed that on ESS Portal under View Open Requests menu old tickets are getting display OOB. We want latest tickets to be display under this however its coming from stored query we unable to sort this ticket based on latest ticket no or open datetime,. We tried Sort fields under stored query but no luck. Any other way to achive this.

Can anybody knows how to do this sorting either in stored query or any other way.

Hi Matpat,

There is a trick to do this:

1: Create an inbox with the desired sort order, you can leave the query empty.

2 - In the process sd search you fill the variable $L.view.name with the inbox name you just created.

Doing that the sort defined in the inbox will be applied to your qbe.

Noticed that you should define well the conditions when the $L.view.name. If you want the same behavior for whole ESS just $G.ess=true should be enough.

Hi Breno Abreu,

You are really brilliant :).

Your solution worked but one issue.

Under "View Open Request" i want to show such tickets whose status should not be "Resolved","Canceled","Closed"

And under "View Closed Request" i want to show such tickets whose status can be "Resolved","Canceled","Closed".

Post applying your solution, I can see all tickets under both "View Open Request" and "View Closed Request".

Please help further.

For this you need to adjust the stored queries (querystored / sq). The default are:
ess.SD.closed.1
ess.SD.open.1

Sorting is not working under the stored queries which getting used for ESS portal. Have already tried.

ess.SD.closed.1
ess.SD.open.1

Hence initiated this discussion and trying to understand in which other ways we can achieve this requirement.

Your yesterday solution worked but since we have 2 different menus on ESS portal "Open Ticket" and "Closed Tickets" again want to dril down further how and where we can filter this views/show tickets with sort.

Let me know your valuable inputs on this.

The view you created will only change the sorting. So you can ignore the sort order on the stored query.
Now you want to change the filter, to do that you still need to change the stored query.

But then how SM will come to know whether it should use view (which created as per your suggestion) or stored query on ESS portal which will show filter with sort.

Do you mean i should remove entry from the process sd search > variable $L.view.name with the inbox name created.

Pls suggest.

I did a test before I replied first time and now I don't remember if I set in the created inbox the same query in the storequery or if I let it true and SM got the filter from sq and the view from inbox.

You can test and see how it behaves, it's only two options.

Strange to know this is basic requirement whose correct solution/workaround still not available with anyone.... :(
