HP TippingPoint Certified: What does the sale mean???

HP TippingPoint Certified: What does the sale mean???

jnatt

I was recently asked “What will happen to my HP TippingPoint Certification with the sale of TippingPoint to TrendMicro.”  In October, Trend Micro agreed to acquire the TippingPoint security product line from Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The sale includes not only the products and development related to the TippingPoint product line, but all other components of the organization including Training and Certification.

In order to help prepare for the close of this deal, we in Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software Education Group are working with our Partner Ready Certification and Learning (formerly HP ExpertOne) and our partner PearsonVUE to come up with the best strategy moving forward. We have decided to make the selected software certifications and exams inactive. This does not mean that current certified professionals will be impacted, but it does mean that no new individuals will be eligible to attempt the exams and attain the certifications.

In light of the completion of the sale we have decided that effective in early January, the following exams will be considered inactive and unavailable for future candidates:

Like the aforementioned certifications, their related exams used to attain these certifications that are currently available through our exam partner PearsonVUE will also go inactive on the same date. The ASE level Certifications, will transition to an inactive state in January of 2016, but the inactive date for the HP ASE level certifications and the corresponding exams will be handled differently since these are a practicum exam. Both of the following Certifications will be made inactive on January 31, 2016:

All these dates are designed to provide sufficient time to finalize needed records for the transition to Trend Micro. As previously stated, this does not mean your existing certification will be impacted. It is our understanding that Trend Micro will continue to honor and acknowledge existing certifications for individuals that hold certifications with TippingPoint Products.

Are you still a bit confused on the impact this will have for you, our partners and customers? I know we cannot answer everything here and we will continue to update this blog as more information becomes available, so comment below or reach out to the Hewlett Packard Education team and specifically our TippingPoint specialists for more help understanding the various components.

Just a Brief Update...

Due to various events, the close of the TippingPoint transaction will not be as originally thought.  As such Hewlett Packard Enterprise - Software Education will continue to offer and manage the ASE exams beyong the originally announced January 31, 2016 date.  As of now we are expecting to continue the ASE Exams and related training courses through April 30, 2016, but as always visit here for continued updates on this offering.

Thanks...
