Backup on ESXi USB disk / "Quiesce snapshot could not..." wa

Hello,

First of all, we have 3 years support for our VM Explorer Professional Edition, but I'm unsure of the right the way to contact support.

Anyway, my first question is:
Is it possible to backup a VM directly on a external disk plugged on an ESXi host ? Can you do that with Professional Edition or shall we buy a Enterprise Edition ?
My purpose here is to backup VMs on a remote ESXi server and avoid having data transiting through our WAN, for obvious bandwidth related issues.

My second question is:
We have this warning when backuping a Windows 2008 R2 VM: "The Backup has finished successfully, but: Quiesce snapshot could not be performed. ESX said: An error occurred while saving the snapshot: Failed to quiesce the virtual machine."
So I followed the instructions in the KB (http://www.trilead.com/FAQ/?qi=2000)
VMwaretools reinstallation didn't solve the problem.
Then I searched for the menu item "View ESX Log" in VM Explorer but I can't find it anywhere.
How can I get this log required for support ? Or how can I solve this problem ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Backup on ESXi USB disk / "Quiesce snapshot could n

I got in touch with technical support for my first question.

They told me it was possible to save a VM on an external disk on an ESXi host. You have to mount a datastore on the external disk.
This is possible with both professional and enterprise edtions of Vm Explorer.

I've found the solution to my second problem.
Short answer : stop "VMware Snapshot Provider" service.
