vix_e_host_network_conn_refused in VM Explorer

We have moved the vm explorer software to a new PC (Windows 10) and we get the error "vix_e_host_network_conn_refused" when we start the replication. We can access the vm's and files (and download them) with the vsphere client.

Please refer to the Support Matrix / User Guide, Windows 10 is not a supported OS to run VM Explorer on.

Re: vix_e_host_network_conn_refused in VM Explorer

Hi Stephen,

We've got the same error message on Windows 2016:

VIX_E_HOST_NETWORK_CONN_REFUSED

when trying to backup VM of an ESXi 5.1 host with VM Explorer 6.7.001

It was working on Windows 2008R2 and VM Explorer 6.4.001

Re: vix_e_host_network_conn_refused in VM Explorer

Please note that VM Explorer 6.7 dropped support for ESXi 5.0 and 5.1. This is due to the fact that the version of the VMware VDDK (Virtual Disk Development Kit) that VM Explorer 6.7 uses also no longer supports those versions of ESXi. Please refer to the support matrix (I've attached a copy here).

Please also refer to VMware's end of life notice for 5.0 and 5.1 here: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2145103

VM Explorer 6.7 and up support ESXi 5.5 and higher as a result.

Re: vix_e_host_network_conn_refused in VM Explorer

Thank you Stephen.

BTW, It would be nice to have a warning like "Host hypervisor version not supported by VDDK, see support matrix" in the report !
